The money wheel has been a casino staple for ages. Then Evolution Gaming strapped a carnival, a shooting gallery, and a giant virtual wheel onto it, and called it Crazy Time. The wheel itself is physical – built by TCS John Huxley, spun by hand, no motor involved – and that’s where the ordinary ends. What you get instead is a full-blown gameshow where the crazy time casino room feels less like a betting floor and more like a live circus, with dealers dressed as ringleaders and air balloon pilots egging everyone on.

The Wheel You Can’t Look Away From

There are 54 segments on that wheel – the numbers 1, 2, 5, 10, plus segments for four bonus games. The dealer spins it live, no RNG controlling the wheel itself, though the bonus mechanics underneath do use Random Number Generators. Fairness is handled properly too: Evolution holds licenses from the MGA and UKGC, and the wheel is regularly maintained.

Even before the wheel stops, there’s the Top Slot spinning above it – a pair of reels that can assign a multiplier to the outcome. So you might bet on ‘1’, the wheel lands on ‘1’, but the Top Slot added a x5. Your payout jumps from 1:1 to 5:1. That’s the core trick of this game: the base wheel is dead simple, but the layers on top keep multiplying the possibilities.

The Four Bonus Rounds

Here’s where it gets genuinely wild. Each bonus game has its own character, from the mechanical to the interactive:

What Makes the Bonuses Work

There are a few things worth understanding before you throw your stake in:

• Bonus segments make up roughly 11% of the wheel – rare, but that’s where the real money lives
• The Top Slot multiplier can carry into a bonus round, so a lucky spin on those reels adds serious value
• Coin Flip has a Rescue Flip on low values, Pachinko has a Rescue Drop – both give you a second chance
• Cash Hunt is the only round where you aim and shoot manually; the other three let the machine do the work

Getting a Handle on How to Play It

If you’re coming from a simpler money wheel like Dream Catcher, there’s an adjustment period. Here’s the quick path:

1. Place your bets on 1, 2, 5, 10, or any of the four bonus rounds
2. Watch the Top Slot spin – if it lands a multiplier, note which number it attaches to
3. If the wheel hits a bonus segment, you shift into that round, or you watch someone else’s bonus fire
4. Use the rounds history panel to track patterns and decide what to lean on next

The Practical Takeaway

RTP sits around 94% to 96% depending on what you stake, with bets starting at just 10p – so it’s accessible at the low end. The strategic edge is in how you weigh bonus segments against plain numbers. Don’t just dump chips on numbers and hope. A small spread across the bonus games keeps you in the conversation when the wheel lands on one, because the biggest payouts only come from those rounds. And keep an eye on the history – like any gameshow, streaks show up, and while they guarantee nothing, they shape a smarter approach than blind betting. That’s the whole game: manage the base wins, stay alive for the bonuses, and let the wheel do its thing.
